Paul Pickering teaches electric and acoustic guitar in a wide variety of styles, including rock, blues, country and jazz.

Born in the North-East of England, Paul began his musical career playing the trumpet in his high school orchestra and dixieland group.

Beginning the guitar at age fourteen, by 16 he was playing several nights a week in his father's trio, covering everything from jazz standards to current pop hits. He also studied both jazz and classical guitar with local professionals, and successfully completed the Royal College of Music series of classical guitar examinations.

the US in 1982, he learned country and bluegrass first-hand by spending three years in Tulsa, OK, where he also learned to square dance, two-step and Cotton-Eyed Joe.

He has worked in a big band, musical theater pit group, and a number of local variety and country acts, including Gold In Arizona, Nick Nicholson, Europa, 4th Remedi, and the AcrossTown Bus. He has also played in the worship groups at Paradise Valley UMC and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Scottsdale.

Moving to Recent highlights include opening for country stars Randy Travis and Mark Wills, headlining the Gila County Fair, and playing at the Make-A-Wish Foundation Annual Fundraising Ball.

Currently, Paul plays in two bands: Debbie & Double Eagle Band (classic and current country & classic rock) and the Messinger Band (variety music & theme shows for high-end corporate & private clients).

He lives in Mesa near Brown & Val Vista with his wife Catherine and their family.
